This has been such a crazy time of year for me. Sean and I are just wrapping up the Family Portraits for 2008 and this weekend I will be at the Portobello Art and Fashion Market selling many new photo canvas works and some beautiful art cards.
If you haven’t been to this market before you have to check it out, it is amazing, so many wonderful artist and local designers! I love it! You can do all your Christmas shopping here. Come early, it gets super busy.
The market is open Saturday and Sunday Dec 13 and 14th from 12-6pm!
At the Rocky Mountaineer Station in Vancouver on 1755 Cottrell Street and there is free parking.

Art and mind
I had this past weekend off :) YAY! and decided to be a Vancouverite again, and went downtown Saturday for coffee and art. I met up with a friend and off the the Vancouver Art Gallery we went. They happen to have live music behind the gallery and some great local bands were playing, at least I think they were local. The music was great and even the rain added to the whole Vancouver feel. Gotta love it! But we came for the art and into the gallery we went.
I was in a mellow mood and felt like just chillin' for the afternoon, however the WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution show, had other ideas for me. This show is based on the impact of the feminist movement on female artist from the 60's to the 80's. As important as this work is, I found the show to be really overwhelming and angry.
I know a lot was going on at this time that has given me the opportunities I know and love, but it also reminded me and instilled in me that my own art is not political nor a statement against anything. Actually I feel it is quite the opposite. I try to create works that people can use to look at and take a minute or two or 10 or 12 and let all the stimuli we have intrude us everyday just leave them for those few moments. I try to create peaceful images. I feel that our world is so bombarded with unnecessary and extra "stuff" that if I can just give my viewers and my collectors something that calms them for a few moments than I will feel like I have helped in some way.
On a side note I did find a few pieces and a few artist that excited my aesthetic sensibility, so not all was lost on Saturday :)

Poster Series
I had a show in March 2008 called "Reflective Journeys" at Gallery 14 in New Westminster, that was based on my poster series that I am now selling. The images are from my recent travels to Mexico, Scotland, Ireland and Italy. Great trips and each images has special meaning to me.
